During the month of February 2006 the Marquetry Society hosted their own incredibly busy stand at the Alexandra Palace Woodworker's Exhibition in London.

Here you see Executive Committee member Roy Murton explaining marquetry techniques to a very interested visitor.

Roy is also the Chairman of the Redbridge Marquetry Group.

Harry Heyford of the Redbridge Marquetry Group prepares some marquetry examples in a quiet moment shortly before the main doors are opened and the hall fills up with thousands of eager wood working visitors.

"Have you got a subscription form available - because I would like to join the Marquetry Society right now, thanks!"

This scene was repeated many times at this year's exhibition - so, if you are one of those visitors who signed up to join our Society at Alexandra Palace, we offer you a big welcome and we hope you are now thoroughly enjoying your membership of the Marquetry Society.

"I chatted so much about marquetry (and the Society) to our vistors that I nearly lost my voice by the time the exhibition finished" said Roy.

"Hooray to that !" said the rest of the Redbridge Group - but, do they mean 'hooray' for the success of the exhibition - or - for Roy losing his voice?

What do you reckon?
