Lily by Alan Townsend. Alan made a superb job of this marquetry interpretation of a famous oil painting. The foliage, pond and clothing are perfectly depicted. It was Patrick Levin’s ‘The Start’ which prevented this magnificent work from attaining the Rosebowl.

Cornfield Scenario by Alan Townsend. Gordon Richards in his ‘Just missed out’ series said “The fur on the animals was incredible. This must have caused the judges some intense discussion before awarding the Rosebowl to Peter White.” This is a wonderfully detailed piece of work, a sign of things to come.
